There are also games for students to play. iCivics This website is a great resource that is interactive website for students to explore civics. Students can play games that place them in various civics roles that allow them to address real-world problems and issues. There are also free resources, tools, and support for teachers as well. Teaching Civics Teaching Civics is a resource for teachers to engage students in active learning and bringing civics to life. The website provides upcoming civic events, lesson plans, programs, and professional development. Teachers can use this site to help integrate civics not only into the classroom, but into the community. Kids in the House This website is designed for students to learn about the roles, history, and members of the House of Representatives. The visuals can help draw students into the website, where they can explore information about the House of Representatives and even watch with a camera. Geography resources

This is an amazing website that shows the world on a computer screen. Viewers can visually see physical features all around the world, and students and teachers can both use this to their benefit. Locations can be found by typing in an address or venturing through across the globe. Worldmapper This website is a collection of world maps. There are over 700 maps on this site and they show physical features and averages. Some of the maps include animations teachers can use during a lessons in the classroom. Maps4Kids Maps4Kids is a place for students to research all the different aspects of geography. Students can research information based off of maps provided. The website provides facts of each state, games of concentration, puzzles, quizzes and interactive maps. National Geographic - Education This is a resource teachers can use to gather activities, units, lessons and ideas about geography. These include interactive activities to engage students outside of the classroom. KidsGeo This is an in-depth online geography textbook written for kids. This website contains lessons based on the video clips, which is valuable for people of all ages. Time for Kids Time for Kids offers students resources to keep updated on day to day history and current events. This organization also sends out magazine pamphlets to keep students informed about the world around them. Smore This website assists users in making beautiful flyers and newsletters with affordable prices. There are countless templates to choose from with instructions that make it easy to navigate. Students can even use this for a group project. |

Some require money, but seem very useful for teachers. H.I.P Pocket Change This site is an interactive opportunity for students to experience the process coins make. Students can learn about the mint history, coin news, collectors club, and games and cartoons. EcEdWeb This is a great resource for teacher that contain many resources for teachers of all ages. Teachers can select concepts and see direct lessons that correlate with each concept. These lessons are free and contain many activities to engage students in the class. Teachers can use this site to enhance their history lessons for the students. For a closer look, I did a web quest on this website and it is under the Sample Lessons section. EyeWitness to History Students and teachers can use this website to see historical events in various perspectives. One can travel throughout decades of history and can choose specific people in history and their perspective on events. Students can see different events through key players to see different viewpoints. The History Channel This website has various videos and pictures for students and teachers to utilize. Viewers can also see shows The History Channel plays on television. There are also games for students to play on the website, and they can also read about history events that happened in this day in history. Presidents This site allows views to select a specific president and one can find out endless information about the president. Some facts include birthdate, relations, biographies, and photographs. The Oregon Trail This site describes the aspects of the Oregon Trail. This website is a resource for teachers when they are teaching this portion of history in their class. It gives other websites or articles to inform teachers. With separate pages with interesting facts, historical sites, and a Trail archive, students will be informed about the Oregon Trail. There are activities and worksheets available and even includes specific activities for special needs students. The website allows teachers to create puzzles and word searches for lessons. TeacherTube This website is quite similar to YouTube, but instead is a great resource for teacher with videos to share in the classroom. These videos can create discussion topics, or enlighten students, without the fear of running into inappropriate matter on YouTube. |
